THE BLIND MEN AND THE ELEPHANT The story tells of six blind men who meet an elephant for the first time and each man touches a different part of the elephant and makes predictions about what the elephant is like. They use their visual power to create there meaning and thought on what the elephant is. They are blind but with the use of touch and feel they create a visual picture. This poem is an example of how easy it is for us to turn our mind off and fill it with nothing, just complete emptiness, and imagine what we want this allowing us to escape reality. Also, it is a good warning about how relating to sensation and these body parts and the process of using the senses to get information about the elephant, and how it can lead to misinterpretations. So to me the meaning of the poem is that no matter if your blind or you can see everyone has the power to imagine and escape reality.

PERCEPTION(Jeff Koons' Puppy)

In Jeff Koons' Puppy, it makes me feel like I relate to the work, i'm not sure why exactly, but the use of a 43 foot tall topiary sculpture of a dog, and being made out of flowers which i think everybody can relate to and everybody can love it and enjoy it. Also, the use of the warmth colours like the pinks and the yellows, oranges, reds and etc.. but at the same time you can feel the love which is shown through the softness of the flowers, texture and smell.Koon uses diffrent materials on his artwork which has been stretched beyond normal scale. Koon has change the meaning of a normal puppy when he uses plants and flowers instead of fur. One of the meanings of the Puppy is to celebrate life because of its short life as represented through the flowers and plants which have to be replaced regularly because they die. Not only does it represent that it also, may represent the summers day walking with the dog in the park and then allegies hit. These are my thoughts and meanings on Jeff Koons' 'Puppy'.
